Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport
France
THE PROJECT:
Faced with the growth in its annual passenger numbers, Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport has undertaken expansion work with the Terminal 1 Hall B project: a circular hall with a total surface area of 70,000 m² on three levels. This space will be designed to meet the changing needs of passengers, providing large areas for airport services and retail.
To address the complexity of the project, Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport has contracted PLAFOMETAL to design all the ceilings for the new infrastructure.
CUSTOMER NEEDS:
- Aesthetic solution
- Acoustic comfort
- Easy access to the plenum for maintenance..
OUR RESPONSE:
- PLAFOMETAL's solution consisted of a custom-made solution using metal acoustic baffles with a wooden base. This product was developed to meet the acoustic requirements of this project while providing a modern look. To connect to the glass wall, custom-made connection panels were also manufactured to match the shape of the glass.
- In addition to the custom-made solutions, various metal ceilings from Plafometal were installed in the departure and arrival terminals.
Metal acoustic baffles with wooden heels
The perforated anthracite gray aluminum baffle (23%, Ø2.5 mm) is filled with Eurocoustic rock wool with two black sides. A wooden heel is placed on the underside of the baffle. The assembly is suspended on a frame designed specifically for the system. Male/female rods allow for perfect alignment.
Product advantages:
- Provides acoustic correction
- Modern linear appearance
- Freedom of installation: variable spacing and height to preserve volume and natural lighting.
Connection games to glass walls:
The use of metal cheeks and falls facilitates the creation of level changes, allowing the creation of blind boxes or the avoidance of obstacles interrupting the continuity of the ceiling.
Product advantages:
- Addressing architectural constraints
- Custom-made level changes and facade finishes
- Hides the plenum
- Anti-reflective.
Shaped tray
These ceilings cover the terminal access walkways. The trays open and remain attached to special profiles allowing easy access to the networks located in the plenum.
Product advantages:
- Custom-made solution
- Solution adapted to architectural constraints: integrated side panels
- Easy access to plenum networks: removable tray
- Durable
Trapeze tray
Trapezoidal trays can follow the curves of a building and therefore adapt to the configuration of curved areas.
Product advantages:
- Adapt to the configuration of curved areas and can be used over the entire surface to be treated or inserted punctually between rectangular trays.
