A Modern, Light-Filled Terminal at Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport

In response to growing passenger traffic, Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport undertook the expansion of its Terminal 1 – Hall B, a 70,000 m², three-level circular space designed to offer new services, retail areas, and circulation zones for travellers.

As part of this large-scale project, the airport entrusted PLAFOMETAL with the execution of all ceiling systems within the new infrastructure, with strong requirements in terms of aesthetics, acoustic comfort, and technical accessibility.

PLAFOMETAL delivered a custom solution consisting of acoustic metal baffles with wooden caps, combining acoustic performance with contemporary design. Specific connecting soffits were also designed to integrate with glazed façades, along with various metal ceiling systems adapted to terminals and walkways.

A Custom Solution

This project demonstrates PLAFOMETAL’s expertise in designing modular and custom ceiling systems that combine aesthetics, acoustic performance, and adaptability, enhancing both interior and exterior spaces of this next-generation transport hub.

Thanks to systems designed for high-traffic environments, PLAFOMETAL provides a tailored response to the challenges of flow management, comfort, and technical performance in major transport hubs.
